Prishtina, 9 March 2010 – After the meeting, Prime Minister Thaci on behalf of the Government of Kosova, and Prime Minister Leterme on behalf of the Belgium-Luxembourg Economic Union signed the Agreement for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments.
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Yves Leterme, in this case has invited Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Hashim Thaci for an official visit to Brussels, which Prime Minister Thaci accepted with pleasure the invitation.
In a press conference after the meeting Prime Minister Thaci thanked the Prime Minister Leterme for the full support that Belgium has continuously given to Kosova.
Prime Minister Thaci stated the vision of the Government of Kosova to deepen cooperation between two countries in the all aspects.
"Kosova's prospect is a European prospect; Kosova will be part of NATO and EU. We have an excellent relations with all the countries of the region, we would like also to have good relations and cooperation with Serbia as two independent states, in the service of peace, stability, regional cooperation, and the European perspective ", said mr.Thaçi.
Prime Minister Hashim Thaci during the meeting has also informed his Belgian counterpart for the steps to be taken by the Government of the Republic of Kosova in the process of economic development.
"Investors from Belgium are welcome in Kosova. Kosova has created a good climate for investments, the businesses, but also new opportunities to comprehensive," said Prime Minister Thaci by reiterating the invitation to Belgian investors.
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Yves Leterme said that Belgium is among the first countries that recognized the state of Kosova, and expressed readiness of his country and to encourage other states to recognize Kosova.
"The future of Kosova is in the European Union. Although today this way may seem hard and that has many obstacles, Belgium is ready to help Kosova in this way. The integration of Western Balkans will not be completed without Kosova, "said Leterme.
Prime Minister Leterme also said that bilateral relations with Kosova are excellent and they will be deepened, especially in the field of economy.
"Kosova needs more economic development, more decisions on the field of the economy such as were taken earlier on the energy and for the telecom. We will help you to create new opportunities so that many Belgian companies will invest in Kosova, "Leterme stressed.
